How do you feel when you watch the news?

If you have been watching the news, you may feel overwhelmed, tired, or depressed from what is going on in the world.  You are feeling the impact of the bad news starting with the pandemic and now all the looting and violence that is happening. Yes, there is some good where people are peacefully protesting or helping others, and that is uplifting. There is also a tremendous amount of hate and violence.

You may not realize that every single time you watch hatred, violence, or destruction happening visually or hear about it, it is draining or exhausting to your mind, body, and spirit.  When you watch it day after day, hour after hour, it can become overwhelming and exhausting.

Are you addicted to the news?

Many of you may be addicted to the news and watch it continuously without understanding how it is impacting your psyche and energy.  Many of the same messages and footage are repeated hour after hour.   The strategy is if bleeds it leads.  The news media uses fear and despair to keep you tuned in and coming back.  It is very draining.

Think of yourself like a vase, when you do things that make you happy and fill you up, your vessel fills up.  When you are continually exposed to things that depress you or drain you, it is like putting holes in your vase.  You never feel completely happy or pure joy.

Change how you feel

The best solution is to turn off the news.  Stop watching violence and hatred unfold in front of you.  I quit watching the news in 2012, and now when it is on when I am around, I feel it draining my energy.  I choose to pick up all news via headlines online and select what I read.  That way, I am on top of world news but don’t get drained or depressed.

What I have found by doing that is I stay in better energy and feel better each day.  You can do the same.  Choose to select the news you will read.

My clients who have weaned themselves off the news have found that it has had a significant impact on how they feel.  They can stay more positive and uplifted and enjoy their day and life to a higher level.  Just turning off the news has energized their life.

Get into The BEING Zone!

Once you stop draining yourself by shutting off the news, I encourage you to fill that time with things that fill you up. As described in my soon to be released book, The BEING Zone, there are many things you can do that will start your day off on the right note.  My top recommendation is to add what I call the 5 Daily B.E.I.N.G. Steps to your day.  My clients tell me when they add this to their morning routine, they find that each day starts right and keeps on getting better.

Imagine waking up and starting every single day with breathing, grounding, and bringing in good energy.  That alone feels good. When add filling your heart with gratefulness while setting clear intentions on what you do want, it helps you create the type of day you would like to have.

When you choose to start your day on a reflective, meditative, and forward-thinking basis, you can’t help but have a fantastic day.   Most of my clients tell me starting their day with their 5 Daily B.E.I.NG. Steps are an essential part of their day, and if they miss it, they feel it.
